The Hosts of the 13th Nordic Nutrition Conference

The Norwegian Nutrition Society (NSE), an NGO, established in 1981, is an interest organisation for nutrition research, education, public health nutrition, and the food industry. NSE represents Norway in both the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) and the International Union of Nutritional Societies (IUNS). Nutrition societies and organizations in the Nordic countries, serving as national contact points for IUNS and FENS, collaborate to host the Nordic Nutrition Conference every four years. We also team up with other Nordic organizations to arrange summer schools for doctoral students. Learn more about the Nordic nutrition organizations here NO, IS, DK, SE, FI.

The University of Bergen offers higher education programs in nutrition since 2005. However, nutrition research has much longer tradition than this going back to very active research environments since the 1980ies. In 2017, the Centre for Nutrition was founded which acts as an umbrella for research, education and communication. Active research areas include research on vitamin D and iodine, seafood, nutrition and aging, gastroenterology, obesity, disease-related undernutrition, and global nutrition.

The Institute of Marine Research (IMR) is one of the largest marine research institutes in Europe, with about 1,100 employees. Our main activities are research, advisory work and monitoring. Our nutrition research contributes to increased knowledge of the relationship between seafood consumption and human health, while also providing a comprehensive analysis of the nutrients and potentially undesirable substances in seafood. The IMR is a governmental institute affiliated to The Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Fisheries and Industry.
